Getting to Us

By Foot

We are a short ten minute walk from the cente of campus. From the Hawthorns Cafe go east on Elton Road towards the Triangle, cross Whiteladies Road and Queens Road at the zebra crossings outside the Victoria Rooms and follow Queens Road around to the left. Cross Richmond Hill and the Richmond Building is on your left.

By Bicycle

Follow the directions for getting to us on foot. There is ample cycle parking to the right of the Richmond Building, including a bicycle shed with U-Card access.

By Train

The nearest main line station is Bristol Temple Meads. From Bristol Temple Meads you can catch a connecting train to the nearest local station - Clifton Down Station on Whiteladies Road. We are a 10 minute walk from Clifton Down train station.

By Bus

From Bristol Temple Meads, take either the 8 or 9 from the bus stop in the station car park (on the right as you exit the station doors). Get off at the Clifton Students' Union Stop - the bus should stop directly outside the building.

To return to Temple Meads Station take the 9 from the stop on the opposite side of the road to the student union building. The last bus should depart at 23:19.

By Car

From M4

  • M4 to Junction 19 with M32
  • Follow signs for Clifton
  • Go to the end of the M32 (which takes you directly into the city centre), which becomes Newfoundland Street.
  • At the junction turn right onto another dual carriageway (Bond Street)
  • At the roundabout take the second turning (past the bus station) onto Upper Maudlin Street.
  • Past the Hospital, straight over at the next three sets of lights.
  • After the third set of lights, on the right is a big cathedral like University building, get in the right hand lane, after the next a set of lights, take the right fork, and get in the left lane.
  • The road forks again - with a big building with fountains outside in the middle (Victoria Rooms) - take the left fork (Queens Road).
  • Go straight over the two mini roundabouts, and on your left after the second one is a huge concrete building - the Students Union.

From M5

  • M5 to Junction 17
  • Follow sign for Bristol Zoo.
  • Go down the A4108 until you reach the Downs where there is a complicated junction.
  • Take the main road (Black Boy Hill), which takes you downhill (follow signs for the City Centre). Road turns into Whiteladies Road, past the main shopping area the BBC will be on your left and a garage on your right, and ahead a junction.
  • Turn right into St Pauls Road. At the end there is a mini roundabout, turn right, then at the next one go straight ahead.
  • On your left after the second one is a huge concrete building - the Students Union.
