Bristol SU have a jam-packed schedule of events across Welcome Week. It’s a time to meet new people, explore the city and get involved in many Bristol SU student groups and activities. It's not all about the club nights - we have a range of events from yoga workshops, to comedy to plant potting. Here are seven of the best Bristol SU alternative events:

 

Disco fever: Silent Disco vs Roller Disco

When - Saturday 16th September 7:30pm

Disco fever is coming to Bristol SU! It’s time to dust off your disco gear and get ready to throw some funky shapes. The Anson Rooms will become a glitzy skating arena, while the Anson Rooms bar will become your very own silent disco. Which disco will you pick? Skates and headphones provided. Buy your ticket.

 

True Tales: Real Stories from Bristol Students

When - Sunday 17th September 6:30pm

Where - Anson Rooms Bar

 

Like Story Slam, but different - a night of entertainment that you can join in with. Hear people’s amazing true stories told live on stage. All stories are told by audience volunteers so share your story or just enjoy everyone else's. The theme for the evening is "Fresh Starts". Head to the True Tales Workshop to learn the slam rules and practice before telling your story. Book your ticket.

 

The Inspire Talks - TEDxBristol

Get up and Glow morning rave

When - Tuesday 19th September 7:45am

Where - Anson Rooms

Meet the morning with big tunes, dancing and fitness, plus self-care workshops alongside. Come and enjoy some time to look after yourselves, with sessions designed to help you conquer the day ahead, and shake off the night before. Expect Zumba, cubatone, yoga, and meditation. Remember we run activity sessions throughout the year, so you can treat this is as a taster. Bring your friends to try something new together! Buy your ticket.

 

 

 

Plant potting workshop

When - Tuesday 19th September 1:00pm

Where - Balloon Bar

 

Green fingers encouraged - come and give some plants a new home down at the Balloon Bar from 1pm! Plant potting is a great way to relax, meet people and understand a little more about the world around you. Free event!

Bristol Film Festival presents: Monty Python & The Holy Grail

When - Wednesday 20th September 7pm

Where - Winston Theatre

 

Bristol Film Festival presents Monty Python & The Holy Grail. King Arthur and his knights embark on a low-budget and slapstick quest for the Holy Grail. Your ticket includes free beer – feel free to dress up too! Doors open at 7pm for 7:30pm start. Book your ticket.

Comedy Carnival

We kick off our new comedy season with a night of amazing acts for a sweet price tag. We're very excited that this year's special guest is none other than award-winning Nathan Caton! You might have seen Nathan on Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Russell Howard’s Good News or BBC R4’s Can’t Tell Nathan Caton Nothing. The Comedy Festival will also feature Jen Brister and Nigel Ng -  grab your tickets before they go! Doors open at 7:30pm for 8:00pm start.
