Election Nominations Open

Monday 28-01-2019 - 09:00

Nominations for the Bristol SU Elections have officially opened and will remain open until midnight on Thursday 28 February!

The nominations are for the main Bristol SU elections which will take place in March, electing Full Time Officers, Chairs of Networks, Chair of Student Council, Faculty Reps, returning Course Reps and Student Trustees.

Following policy which was passed at Student Council in November, there will be two entirely new roles which are up for election this year.

The first is the Chair of the Multifaith Network – the first leader of a new platform for all students of faith to come together, discuss shared experiences, host events, run campaigns and break down barriers between religious groups.

The next is for our first ever full time International Students’ Officer. There are over 5000 international students at Bristol and this number continues to grow, therefore Bristol SU is introducing a new full-time officer role to ensure those students feel represented.

“There’s so much to gain – it’s fun, rewarding, gives you insight into levels of work far beyond your years and most of all you can do the role however suits you and make it your own! The only reason to not do it is concern about the campaigning process and I’d urge anyone who views that as a barrier to come talk to me – I’ve done it twice now!" - Stanford

Bristol typically sees one of the highest student voter turnouts in the country – a record that the SU is hoping to retain.

All current students are able to nominate themselves or recommend a friend for at least one role in the election. Some roles will require you to be a returning student for the academic year 2019/20. More details about each of the roles will be available at
