Welcome to the University of Bristol’s Amateur Boxing Club. We aim to both introduce people to the sport and to develop fitness and technique with like minded people. We train together in some of Bristol's best boxing gyms as well as offering an extensive range of fitness sessions to allow you to work on cardio and strength at a low cost and without requiring a sports pass. We welcome you all, at whatever level you are!
Want to try the sport? Come along to our open training sessions in the Students Union building - at just £2/session. These session are on Saturdays 11am-1pm.
Training culminates in an epic fight night towards the end of term 2. This is where members can apply to fight someone with a similar weight and experience from a different university.
The Boxing Club has a strong tradition of running tough trials in order to be accepted into our fight team. You must attend both trials so that you can showcase your mental toughness. The idea of the trials is to test your effort levels and attitude as well as to put you through rigorous fitness drills. These will demonstrate the level of fitness which you will be expected to perform at throughout the year.
The boxing club committee and organisers will be looking for those who perform well in the trials in order to decide who will be able to train in the competitive squad this year and who will be able to train at the Saturday Open Sessions. Remember that we look for mental strength and endurance at trials. If you show determination you will get noticed.
Part One: Tuesday 26th September - 6.30pm-8.30pm - At the Clifton Downs
Part Two: Thursday 28th September - 6.30pm-8.30pm - At the Clifton Downs
We will also be holding a social on Wednesday 27th September and details for this will be released on the first day of trials. This social will provide the ideal opportunity to make yourself know to the current committee/club members and meet some lovely new faces.
Please Note: The details for sessions show below are for the previous year. This has been left to give you a good idea of the sessions we run. This will be altered slightly as it is still being finalised.
Girls who just want to train on the Wednesday Boxercise Sessions DO NOT have to attend trials.
