Becoming a member of UBSWPC is the cheapest way to be able to swim at the University of Bristol - and if you join us you're sure to have a whale of a time! Membership starts at just £35 for the whole year for fitness/non competitive members, giving you access to 4.5 hours of training per week* and all of our super fun socials!

We are one of 15 Performance Sport Clubs at the University. This means our club members have access to extremely high quality coaching across our squads, and the opportunity to improve in their sport beyond the pool through tailored Strength and Conditioning from a dedicated S&C coach. A number of our athletes are also Vice Chancellor Scholarship recipients and/or members of the Bristol Sport Performance Squad.

Water Polo

All 4 of our Water Polo teams (2 men's, 2 women's) compete in the top two BUCS divisions, with a glittering history of final-making, league-winning and BUCS glory. If you have never tried water polo before, do not let this put you off! One of our players joined UBSWPC in her first year and had never tried the sport before, and within 2 years with us she became Women's 1sts Captain.

Our Men's and Women's 1s teams each have 6 hours training per week, and the 2nd teams each have 4 hours. This includes dedicated swim fitness sessions for water polo. The 1st teams also have a tailored S&C programme outside of these hours.

Swimming

FITNESS swimmers have access to both morning and evening sessions, which are coached by our Swimming Captains! Over half of our members swim for fitness; it's a great way to stay healthy, meet new people and is the cheapest way to swim at Bristol.

COMPETITIVE/BUCS squad - we have a large competitive squad with access to 9.5 hours of training a week, 5 of which are coached by Jez Birds, and a tailored S&C programme outside of these hours. The competitive team competes at BUCS Nationals, Varsity, an international meet in Germany. There are also opportunities through Jez to race at Level 1 meets nearby and in National League with local club Bristol Henleaze. The team regularly makes relay finals at BUCS with both their A&B teams, and at BUCS Team Championships they enter a large squad of over 20 swimmers to compete in the top 2 divisions.

PERFORMANCE SWIMMING SQUAD - our swimming coach Jez also runs a Performance Programme in partnership with the University, UBSWPC and a number of local clubs. If you are a regional/national level swimmer wishing to push your performance to the next level at University, this could be the squad for you. It offers more coached training time on top of the Competitive Squad times (19 hours total weekly) at additional cost. To find out more, contact Jez Birds - jezbenbirds@gmail.com

*You will also need the basic monthly £5.99 #WeAreBristol membership (different from UBSWPC membership) to get access to our, and any other University of Bristol sports club's, training times and facilities - this can be purchased HERE
