BULABDS is one of the largest societies at the University of Bristol, with dance classes taught by professional dance coaches that are designed to be easy-going, give you plenty of time and many opportunities to socialise, have fun, and at the same time learn to dance!
The dancing that we offer is separated into two categories: Latin and Ballroom.
Latin dance comprises of the rather chic, sexy and cheeky dances such as the
Ballroom dancing is made up of dances usually associated with traditional ballroom dancing:
It is a welcome alternative to the showmanship of Latin, erring instead on the side of grace and elegance.
Whichever takes your fancy, you are more than welcome to come to as many of our classes as you please for no extra charge after the initial membership fee.
These classes are open to all and aimed for those who want to learn to be able to dance socially. Classes are fun, friendly and relaxed.
See timetable below. Please note classes do not run during the third term of the year. Notification of lesson changes will be sent by email.
Social classes cost £4 for social class members and £6 for non-members (pay as you go).
Team Classes are for those who decide to commit to becoming part of the Bristol University Dancesport Team.
These classes are split into:
The type of dances taught in these classes are limited depending on level, however they focus much more on technique and presentation, with the aim of training you for competitive dancing at your level. Members of Team have to opportunity to enter many dance competitions throughout the year, including the highly anticipated Inter Varsity Dance Competition (IVDC) in Blackpool, the highlight of the competitive dance season.
