About Us

Whether you’re interested in creating your own wardrobe from scratch or learning more about the world of High Fashion, our society is the place to be! Our society will always discuss fashion through a sustainable lens, and as such we not only offer hands on classes where you can Upcycle and Re-Use your old clothes, we also host events like Clothes swaps and kilo sales! There’s something for everyone to get involved with at Fashion Forward.

Previously known as Fashion Federation, Fashion Forward is here to engage you in a range of fashion based activities throughout the year, to encourage and teach you all about fashion through creativity. Be a part of a society that brings together people who are interested in all areas of art whether you are an expert or a complete novice.

Open Sessions

This year we are hosting Open Sessions that are FREE for Members! If your uni wardrobe needs a little bit of TLC, come down to our monthly open sessions to use our sewing machines, hand sewing needles and any other equipment you might need to patch up jeans, resew hems and anything else. We've created this initiative to make sure that its easy and accessible for all students to practice sustainability, and our committee will be on hand to give advice and guidance to make sure everything goes smoothly!

Regular Sessions
Come and join us for our monthly sessions where members can learn specific creative skills such as marbling and tie-dyeing. Sessions will also allow the swapping of ideas, skills and unwanted materials and is also a great way to meet people from all years around the university.

Fashion Forward x BCFS

This year we are extremely excited to be partnering with the Bristol Charity Fashion Show! If you're interested in photography, editorial makeup, Designing or Creating Garments then these sessions will be perfect for you! Every month, starting on 17.10.2020, join us to work towards showing on the runway at the biggest fashion event of the year.

To get involved email UJ19726@bristol.ac.uk

Charity And Vintage Shopping
Our first Charity Shop Crawl will be on 10.10.2020 and is the perfect way to get to know your new home, and get your hands on some amazing thrifted items! Due to Coronavirus, this year we are hosting the crawl in family groups, so you’ll need to book a slot even though it’s free to come! Email UJ19726@bristol.ac.uk to book your place and time slot.

If you cant come to this one, don’t worry - there will be plenty more chances throughout the year!

Sewing 101 and Local Designers/Artist/Business Classes
We will be hosting a Sewing 101 class that will give you the opportunity to learn how to make pieces like dresses, tops and trousers over a period of weeks. We will also be inviting local artists and designers (including members of our Committee!) to give classes on an array of skills.

If you have any further questions please don't hasitate to contact us through our group on facebook 'The Fashion Forward Society' or our Instagram @bristolfashion, follow both to be updated on all the activities we will be offering throughout the year so you can pick and chose which events you want to attend.
