The Best Student Life. Bristol SU

Fusion (Chemistry)

  • Fusion square

Description

Welcome to Fusion! We're the University of Bristol's student-led Chemistry society for everyone who's on a Chemistry-related course. All our members enjoy a huge variety of fun-filled social events and activities throughout the year, including pub crawls, film nights and guest lectures. We also organise sports teams to compete in the University's Intramural league!

Joining us is such a great way to meet loads of new people on your course and come together as a community to support one another! We also run both an LGBTQ+ and BAME network as part of our commitment to promoting equality.

All new first years who joined us in October 2020 had the option of joining a small group with second years to help them settle in and get to know what uni life is like! We always aim to cater for drinkers and non-drinkers. Unfortunately registration for this has closed.

PLANS FOR 2020-21

We're hard at work developing our plans for the rest of the academic year – and we're sure it's going to have loads of great activities as often as we can do them!

So far this year, due to COVID-19, we haven't been able to run our usual programme of events. However, we've been busy with online quizzes and games, exciting guest speaker events and our Charity Fun Run! This term as the situation improves, we hopefully look forward to:

  • Dedicated events for our first years (freshers)
  • Pub quizzes
  • A summer formal – one of the year's highlights!
  • "Family" meet-ups!
  • Events involving your lecturers

FAMILY SCHEME FOR FIRST YEARS

As we mentioned above, we encourage our first years to get involved in our family scheme! We pair you up with second years who were in your position last year (maybe in slightly different circumstances!).

Feedback from the scheme is always really positive, as you get to make long-lasting friends and it helps you settle in to uni life.

Of course, there are drinking and non-drinking families – we're all about making everyone feel welcome!

EQUALITY

Ensuring equality and promoting diversity amongst our members is one of our top priorities. Read our Equality Action Plan for 2020-21.

For 2020-21 we're excited to be going further in our support, with both an LGBTQ+ and BAME Network for members in those groups to come together in a supportive environment.
