The University of Bristol’s Khaleeji Society is a new society aiming to develop a bond among all six Khaleeji countries’ students; Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in sharing our diverse culture that can be celebrated by everyone. In 1981, these six countries formed an alliance called the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) aiming to achieve unity among all members based on their similar cultural identities which are rooted in both Arabic and Islamic cultures.
We hope to promote and educate on our rich and preserved heritage that most people haven’t heard about. Our tradition, history, arts, literature, religion and language have dated thousands of years and we aim to involve everyone within the university’s student community to increase their awareness on all these aspects.
For £7 anually, members will enjoy full advantage of our society, including food, drinks, snacks and access to events. Join us and enjoy the cuisine, music and everything our countries have to offer. Feel free to come along and have a taste of the unique characteristics of the Khaleeji community. Everyone is welcome to join and be a part of our family.
