The project involves working with Bristol's homeless population in the Julian Trust Homeless shelter. This is the only emergency shelter in Bristol and is therefore an incredibly important place, providing some of Bristo's most vulnerable citizens with food, clothing and a warm, safe place to sleep. Volunteers are needed to help cook, serve food, sort donations and chat with guests. Shifts typically run 19:30/20:00 to 22:45, but there is also the option to volunteer overnight and serve breakfast to the guests in the morning. Taxis are provided to and/or from the shelter so that the safety of our volunteers is ensured- please email the project co-ordinator by 12pm on the day of your shift if this is something you would like.
There are very few requirements for our volunteers. While we don't set a minimum time commitment, we recommend volunteering once a week or every other week as we find this consistency allows you to build the best relationships with other guests and volunteers. We only ask volunteers to bring a can-do attitude and be happy to get stuck in wherever needed.
For more information, go to our Facebook group or email our project co-ordinator at email@example.com.
