Rugby - Women's

  • Ubwrfc logo

At UBWRFC we pride ourselves on being a friendly, welcoming and supportive team for girls from any sporting background. We promise a thorough introduction to women's rugby for new players, a great time on and off the pitch with a wide variety of socials, and plenty of opportunities to volunteer and coach.

We are proud to be one of the University of Bristol's Performance clubs, which allows us to take advantage of all the support the university has to offer, including specialised strength and conditioning training. With different teams ranging from development to our first team, there is room for different standards of play within the club. We have established links for both 1st and 2nd teams with clubs in the local community, which allows players to gain more match experience.

Who Can Join & Our Equality Statement

UBWRFC welcomes ALL female identifying Bristol students who are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment at all times. We will take a stance against discrimination in all its forms, therefore making activities at Bristol SU fun and open for all.

UBWFRC is committed to creating and sustaining a positive, safe and inclusive environment for all Bristol students who are involved and interact with our club. It is our policy to treat everyone as equal individuals, irrespective of ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion or belief, marriage or civic partnership status, family circumstances, political beliefs or any other unfair distinction in all that we do. With our firm stance against discrimination, we make activities at Bristol enjoyable and accessible to all.

UBWRFC prides itself on offering equal opportunity to all its members. Rugby does not discriminate against, but rather requires, people of varying build, strength, speed and agility. Therefore, by demonstrating our commitment to equality and diversity throughout our club, we want UBWFRC to be a welcoming environment to all individuals whether the individual strives to be a social player or a performance player.

Games & Opportunities

We are so proud to claim that UBWRFC is only one of two woman’s university rugby clubs who have three full teams competing in BUCS! All games will take place on Wednesday afternoons, time and location varying.

Have a look at how each of our teams is currently doing:

First Team Updates - Second Team Updates - Third Team Updates

Our three teams mean ALL players will have a chance to compete in university league rugby- no matter your ability.

Throughout the year we also try and get involved in as many opportunities/events feasible, including:

  • x2 7s BUCS tournaments in Leeds
  • at least one team competing in an international 7s tournament in Lyon
  • opportunities to play in weekend matches with local women’s team Giordano
  • compete in our imtermural team, the rugby rhinos, in netball, rounders, waterpolo games and more...

Sustainability & Community

Sustainability isn’t just about recycling. It’s about making the world a happy and healthy place for everyone, now and in the future. UBWRFC plays a vital role in this. We promote the use of green methods of transport such as cycling, which also improves the fitness of our members, as well as car sharing and public transport; all of which help to reduce our carbon footprint. We produce very little waste, recycling everything we can, and encouraging participation in Clean Up Bristol Harbour.

As if the training wasn't enough, UBWRFC prides itself in hosting an array of socials throughout the year. These include:

  • Weekly sports night - new theme each week!
  • 6 nations group viewings... on the big screen or in person!
  • Trips to watch our Bristol Bears girls play in Tyrrells Premier 15s matches
  • Seasonal events such as ice skating, BBQ's etc

We usually host at least one social a week, so there is always an opportunity to get involved with the social side of the club, no matter how busy you are or the types of socials you enjoy.
