Bristol SU is affiliated to the National Union of Students - NUS.
We hold a referedum on our affiliation every three years unless called between then. The last referendum was held in October 2016 and the decision was to remain.
NUS National Conference:
Each year we send 6 Delegates to the NUS National Conference elected by you. The national conference in on 25 - 27 April 2017 in Brighton. This year the delegates are:
Bristol SU can submit motions to this conference and we decide as a Union which to send as there is a 1400 word limit. Please submit your motions for NUS Conference to the Democratic Standards Committee by midday on Tuesday 14th February. Here is NUS support for writing motions. Email these to firstname.lastname@example.org
You will then be invited to Standing Committee on Thursday 16th February at 6pm to present these motions. Standing committee will then vote, order and submit these from Bristol SU. Please email email@example.com if you have any questions.
NUS Women's Conference: Your chance to represent women nationally!
NUS Women Students' Conference brings together delegates from students' unions affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the UK Women's Officer for the year ahead. This is a great opportunity to represent your peers, and get your chance to be involved with setting policy on national level.
This years conference takes place takes place between 28-30th March 2017, in Birmingham. We will cover your registration and reasonable travel expenses.
To stand in this election you must:
Self define as a 'woman'. This includes "(if they wish) those with complex gender identities which include 'woman', and those who experience oppression as women"; and
Define in to a second liberation group (i.e. black or minority ethic, disabled or LGBT+)
Be available to attend the conference between the 28-30th March
