Stephen Le Fanu - Bristol SU Student Living OfficerStephen Le Fanu - Student Living Officer

Hi I’m Stephen Le Fanu, your Student Living Officer at Bristol SU.  My role involves supporting students and campaigning on issues around wellbeing support, sustainability and halls and housing.  I came to Bristol from deepest, darkest Surrey and have just completed a degree in Biology.  In first year I enjoyed my time in University Hall.

In this role I am building on campaigning that I did as a student , including for free and accessible education and ethical ethical investment.  I also relish a game of five-a-side or a good cycle, as well as harbouring a burning passion for housing policy.

My aims for this year are:

  • Bringing more control back to students when renting. I will aim to inform students on how to rent and what to expect.  We hope to sign Letting Agents and landlords up to an Ethical Lettings Charter.
  • To take steps to set up Bristol’s first Student Housing Co-operative.
  • Make a big deal about mental health, and support student-led support groups. I will campaign for more funding for mental health support.
  • Allow students to reuse and share through more regular charity shop events and opportunities to freecycle food in halls.
  • Get the university to ditch their investments in fossil fuels.

Please do say hi, drop in for a chat or get in touch by email or on Facebook.
