Union Affairs Officer

Jamie Cross - Bristol SU Union Affairs OfficerJamie Cross - Union Affairs Officer

Hi I’m Jamie and I’m your Union Affairs Officer for this year. Last year I spent the year working full-time as the Equality, Liberation and Access Officer, in April I was re-elected into this role, and I’m very excited to start my second year working full-time to better the experiences of Bristol students.

Before I came to Bristol University I lived in London (surprise, surprise) and went to school in Hackney and then Camden. I chose to study maths here, lived in Blenheim Court in my first year and Goldney Hall in my second year.

I also got involved in many student groups. I was President of the LGBT+ society in my third year and whilst I did I gave transgender rights and representation my all. I was a keen member of the Feminist society and even got round to doing some knitting with knitting society. Now I coach the Women’s Cricket team here.

This year I have five key priorities:

  1. More inclusive student-led decision making and leadership of our Students’ Union.
  2. Easier ways to get things done for leaders of student groups (societies, sports clubs, networks, reps).
  3. A strong campaigning Students’ Union to fight for whatever you ask us to.
  4. A bigger, and better Students’ Union. We need more space and to feel ownership of our University Campus.
  5. Students at the heart of our events.

Let’s get our Students’ Union doing the basics right and working for you! Please say hi if you see me around and get in touch by email or on Facebook.
