Volunteering is brilliant. Not only is it great fun but it is rewarding too! Volunteering allows you to escape the student bubble, develop new skills and be a part of new experiences all whilst helping those most in need.
It is easy to get involved and there is a range of opportunities from student-led projects to volunteering with charities and community groups across Bristol and beyond.
So what are you waiting for? Increase your confidence, add to your CV and make yourself stand out from the crowd by volunteering through your Bristol SU.
In 2016 Bristol SU Volunteering was awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service for the amazing volunteering work students do with us in the community.
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities. The awards were created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and winners are announced each year on 2 June – the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation.
The judging panel were struck by the quality and breadth of all the successful groups. "The thousands of volunteers who give up spare time to help others in their community and to help solve problems demonstrate the very best of democracy in action."
