Through city-wide action, Bristol is aiming to become a Gold Sustainable Food City; taking action to change food in Bristol for good.
What is Going for Gold?
A city-wide effort to make big and lasting improvements to Bristol’s food system and be recognised as a Gold Sustainable Food City by the end of 2020. The bid is a collaboration between Bristol Food Network, Bristol Green Capital Partnership and Bristol City Council. It has been named as one of the three key actions area for the One City Plan for 2020.
Why is Bristol Going for Gold?
Because there is a collective energy calling for food that’s good for people, our planet and our city to be made available to everyone in Bristol.
Bristol is Going for Gold to give individuals and organisations of any kind across the city a platform to make big and lasting changes to our food system, and bring about positive changes for our communities, our environment and our workplaces.

Who is Going for Gold?
The whole city is rallying together to make the bid. Everyone can take action: individuals, organisations, policy makers ... and you.
When is Bristol Going for Gold?
Right now. People are already taking action to achieve Gold by the end of 2020. The award at Gold level has not been granted to any other city in the UK.
We are looking for volunteers for both the digital/remote work and the face-to-face public engagement. You may have a preference for one and not the other which is fine. The event work is likely to be on hold for the time being in light of COVID-19 and we may have a number of our key events cancelled in the early summer. We are looking for volunteers to help with the digital work immediately.
We already have a great deal of data from individuals who have registered on our website. We need help
This work would suit someone who has skills/interest in some of the following areas:
I anticipate a commitment of no more than one or two hours a week, depending on how many interested volunteers apply!
We are also eager to recruit for event volunteers now for later in the summer. For this role you should have some knowledge and interest in issues around food, be energetic and motivated, compassionate, senstive and tactful, friendly and warm. You will receive full training.
Minimum commitment level: Twice a month
