The Severnside Community Rail Partnership cic is a not for profit company championing the role of the railway in the community and the role of community in their local railway. We are members of the national Community Rail Network and deliver projects to provide a voice for the community, promote sustainable, healthy travel, to bring communities together and support diversity and inclusion and to support the local economy.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds and have a range of opportunities including:
• enhancing local station environments through horticulture and food growing
• helping people from marginalised groups gain confidence in using public transport
• supporting community events, both on and off the rails
• providing digital content for websites and social media
Volunteers often develop new skills, experience an improved sense of well-being, and new friendships forged.
The Partnership actively encourages young people to become involved with community rail and has facilitated bespoke volunteering programmes to align with apprenticeship programmes, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the National Citizenship Scheme
Impact reporting is a tool we use on our stations to measure input, outline projects the volunteers are working on and to track overall improvements within the station. This tool is a space for station volunteers and groups to log their hours, measure their contribution and celebrate milestones and successes.
Volunteering in this role will help to create a portfolio of the accomplishments on the station; collating images, recording activities and events at the station, showing new volunteers what activities have been happening and it will prove useful when it comes to mapping out future activities and projects!
