Bristol Hub are recruiting for the 2021/22 Empower Active Committee!

Empower Active is a mentoring programme for year 7 and 8 male pupils. Volunteers act as a mentor to help raise students confidence, self-esteem and resilience, through a mixture of classroom and sports based activities. As a committee member you’ll support us to achieve our mission by planning sessions and engaging other students with this cause and inspiring them to take action.

We’re looking for a motivated and passionate individual to take on the role of Internal Relations. Don’t worry if you feel like you don’t have experience, we are keen to hear from self-starters and enthusiastic individuals.

This opportunity will run for the duration of the 21/22 academic year (September-May).

How will you benefit?

Being a part of the committee gives you access to a range of unique opportunities including:

  • Experience in fundraising, publicity and events management - key skills for a career in the third sector and transferable skills for any job.
  • An opportunity to have significant responsibility and develop leadership skills
  • Access to professional training and tailored support from the Hub staff team
  • Optional personal development plans
  • Insight into the working of a third sector organisation
  • The chance to make a practical difference to the local community in the causes you really care about

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan student and Hub staff led activities for the programme.
  • Gather resources ahead of each session.
  • Work with External Relations and Hub staff to create session plans
  • Organise volunteer socials.
  • Attend programme sessions as possible.

Alongside the key responsibilities specific to this role, members of the Empower Active Committee also have the following general responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly committee meetings
  • Support the rest of the committee in their work
  • Provide logistical support at Freshers’ Fair, socials and events as required
  • Communicate effectively with the rest of the committee and the Hub staff team
  • Support recruitment
  • Help with publicity including, but not confined to, maximising outreach of social media events and leafleting
