  • Dealing with incoming donations
  • Identifying high quality and highly desirable items
  • Researching items
  • Pricing items
  • Creating eye catching displays
  • Quality control
  • Stock control
  • Online sales – listing items, photographing items, dispatching items
  • Creating engaging social media content
  • Organising and attending events, both at the shop and out and about in the community
  • Supporting fellow volunteers
  • Cashing up and banking
  • Promoting Oxfam's values

Why volunteer here?

Oxfam's core values are empowerment, inclusiveness and accountability. This means that when you work with us you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and bring your own ideas into the shop, you will be warmly welcomed and you will feel a sense of ownership over the work you do. We provide references for all our volunteers, and we believe nobody should be out of pocket to volunteer with us, so if you live outside Clifton we can help with travel costs.

Our wonderful, committed and diverse team of volunteers help us out for a huge variety of reasons. Here’s just a few of the top reasons to join the team:

  • We’re a very friendly, supportive and welcoming team
  • We can help you develop your skills and confidence
  • We can help you demonstrate that you have all the key skills employers are looking for on your CV
  • We have a massive variety of tasks to suit your interests, from sorting amazing vintage clothing, researching valuable books, working out what a random piece of bric-a-brac might be, right through to photography for our online sales activity. You will never get bored here!
  • And finally, but probably most importantly, we make a lovely (Fairtrade) cup of tea

What we ask for:

  • A minimum commitment of a 4 hour shift on a weekday, between 9.30 and 13.30 or 13.30 and 17.30
  • A willingness to learn and to work within Oxfam's core values

In 2018/19 Oxfam's retail activities made a total unrestricted income of £18.11 million to support Oxfam's aim of ending extreme poverty. £80,990 of this came directly from our shop. This income enables Oxfam to empower people to help themselves out of poverty, as well as allowing us to act immediately when a disaster happens, saving lives and helping to rebuild communities. Can you help us raise even more money this year? We won't live with poverty. If you feel the same way we would love to work with you!
