Bristol University Kitesurfing Society (BUKS) offers a unique and thrilling opportunity to get involved with the fastest growing extreme sport in the UK. We welcome anyone and everyone, from the complete beginner to the experienced rider, so sign up and get involved!

Whether you're a seasoned pro or have never even touched a kite, we are an open and friendly society that will have you freeriding, freestyling, and jumping in no time!
LESSONS
*FREE LESSONS ON LAND: After the success of our 'give it a go sessions', we will be offering day lessons again this year in Bristol up on the Downs. We will be running beginners through setting up and flying foil kites and inflatable kites, as well as technique and theory - all key elements a good kitesurfer needs to know!
UK DAY LESSONS: these will be run through Poseidon Watersports in Poole whenever we have wind. Price: £10/hour, including kit and tuition (there will be additional fuel costs to get there). For more information and booking, please speak to a committee member about joining our beginners group chat
NOVEMBER TRIP TO TARIFA: we will be taking our beginners (and anyone else who wants to come!) to the South of Spain for a week of lessons over the first reading week (first week of November). This will be your best way to learn to kitesurf because the wind is reliable and you'll have a solid week of low cost lessons!!! after the trip, you will be able to kitesurf and you can rent our kit and join us on all the intermediate sessions that we go on
*IMPROVER/ADVANCED LESSONS: if you've reached a plateau and want to improve your kiting or would like lessons in freestyle, big air, foiling, etc... then we can organise this for you! make sure you're in our intermediate WhatsApp group chat and get talking with our committee directly because these will only be run if there's demand for it!

WAKEBOARDING
NEW THIS YEAR! We are running regular Wednesday afternoon wakeboarding trips for all those who want to perfect their board skills.

£27 for members
£27 for your first two sessions for non-members, then it will increase to £35
INTERMEDIATE WEEKEND TRIPS
Throughout the year we run weekend trips to Devon, Cornwall and Wales. Leaving Friday night from Bristol we head to one of our favourite bunkhouse or campsites. Once we've slept (a bit) the group head out to the beach in the morning. Beginners will be given the option to join for the vibes and practice with training kites on the beach. Intermediate riders will be paired up and given a kite to play with. Highlight of the weekend is usually the big fry-up provided by BUKS on Sunday morning! Trips usually run between £20 and £50 depending on location, whether you have your own kit, or a car to lend, and the number of people on the trip.
INSTRUCTOR COURSES
We will be setting up an instructor course in the new year for all you intermediate riders who dream of being able to spend your long uni summers getting paid to be a beach babe on the Mediterranean, or of spending 6 months living in the Caribean after you graduate, like many of our alumni. If you're a beginner and you come with us to Tarifa and then on all of the intermediate sessions, we can get you good enough to do the course with us!
The courses will be subsidized based on how many years of instructing you'd like to do with BUKS whilst still at uni.
SUMMER TRIPS
The highlight of the year is the Summer trip - jetting off to a sunny paradise for 10-days of kiting madness! The trips are a massive opportunity for beginners to get up and riding as well as other riders to perfect those tricks they've always wanted to do. In the past, we rented apartments, stayed in hostels, or piled into a holiday house. The trip runs after exams and it a perfect break after the stressful season. Previous trips have been to Morocco, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
EASTER TRIP TO TIREE
after the ski trip, enjoy a wild week of wind in Scotland! We've got a cottage booked, a lot of kit, and its gonna be a sendy time
SUMMER TRIP TO PORTUGAL
After a long academic year, kick back with us in Portugal for 10 days and get your kiting up to the next level. There will be plenty of wind, kit, sun, and lessons for those who want them

Membership Fee Inclusions
Prior to signing up to a Club or Society speak to the Committee to find out what your membership includes and if there are any further expenses throughout the year.
Service Standards
All Club or Society members can expect to receive:
- The opportunity to attend regular meetings, events, activities, trips and socials as arranged.
- The opportunity to stand for a committee position or vote in their elections (Bristol students only).
- For Sports Club – to attend regular training sessions and have the opportunity to be selected for the teams.
Code of Conduct
When joining a club or society you are agreeing to abide by the constitution, general rules, regulations and policies of University of Bristol Students’ Union and also the Club or Society Code of Conduct which sets out the level of behaviour & discipline expected of all Club & Society members.
Refund Policy
Any customer who pays for a membership subscription to a Bristol SU Society, Sports Club, Student Media and initiatives has a 14 day cooling off period from the time and date of purchase during which they have the right to cancel the subscription and receive a full refund. If you do decide to cancel within the 14 days, Bristol SU will refund your payment within a further 30 days of the cancellation. To request a refund please email: bristolsu@bristol.ac.uk
Data sharing (Sports Club members only)
Please be aware that Bristol SU may share data relating to the members of its sports clubs with the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health (a department of the University). This information may be used for the purposes of communicating direct with these members and/or to cross-reference against SEH's Sports Pass membership records.
As part of Bristol SU's membership of British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) Bristol SU may have to share data on to its sports clubs members so BUCS can, from time to time, communicate with these members.
