Professor Yanos Zylberberg’s Talk: Data Science in Economics

Professor Yanos Zylberberg  is a Professor of Economics at Bristol. He is going to talk about his two ongoing data science and economy research projects. The talk will discuss how unusual data sources (historical maps, and paintings) and their systematic digitization might help understand the long-run evolution of societies. More specifically:

Mapping History – What historical maps can tell us about the long-run evolution of cities and neighborhoods? [with a focus on the role of pollution in explaining current spatial inequalities]

State of the Art – Economic development through the lens of paintings [with a focus on key, well-known economic transformations of Europe from 1400 onwards]

Free Pizzas will be available after the event!
