The Bristol SU: 50 Most Influential list recognises the students and student groups that have had an extraordinary impact in our community.
We’re spotlighting and celebrating the efforts, talent, and achievements of individual and collective students from this year in our exciting new series.
Remarkable student leaders, organisers and groups go to lengths every day to have lasting positive impacts on their communities, and we want to celebrate them.
Do you know someone who could make it as one of the 50 most influential individual students or groups here in Bristol? Are you one of those people?
There’s no one way to make the list, our judges will evaluate against 10 key criteria but will also take into account unique submissions. Simply tell us why this individual or group is deserving of being recognised as one of the most Influential at the University of Bristol in 2023/24.
Here are the 10 key criteria points to consider alongside the nomination:
- Impact: activity having significant influence - whether through breadth or depth of engagement
- Innovation: unique or extraordinary ideas
- Community: demonstrating a significant, positive social impact
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: creating safe and welcoming environments for all
- Wellbeing: a commitment to supporting people
- Leadership: demonstrating excellent group motivation or collaboration
- Sustainability: demonstrating a commitment to sustainable actions
- Fun: creating joy or entertainment
- Ambition: being especially creative or determined to reach their goal
- Success: exceptional achievements
FAQs
1. Can I nominate myself, or is it better to have a nominator?
We don’t mind whether someone nominates you, or if you write it yourself.
What does help? A tightly-written nomination that provides key details on the activity (e.g. numbers of people involved, long term impact) and you might be the one with the specific info to share with us.
2. Do I have a better chance of making the list if I get multiple people to repeatedly nominate me?
No, we’re on the search for quality, not quantity! So, there’s no need to ask people to repeatedly nominate you as we won’t consider the volume or number of nominations in our final decisions.
3. How do I get on the list?
There’s no one way to make the list, our judges will be evaluating your nomination against 10 key criteria. But we’ll also consider unique submissions so don’t be put off even if you’re not sure it counts!
4. How and when will I know if I’ve made the list?
Nomination submissions will close on Friday 3 May. We’ll then announce the final winners on Wednesday 22 May.
5. What will I get if I win?

6. Do I/my nomination have to hit all 10 criteria?
No, you can hit as little as one of the criteria or as many as 10. If you have achieved something exceptional in one area with a particularly significant outcome, then that would still be considered for the Bristol SU: 50 list.
