The Loft

The Bristol SU Loft is a space for students to study and collaborate, or relax and meet friends situated on the Upper Ground floor of Senate House.

The Loft is equipped with a kitchen with hot water for hot drinks, plenty of plug sockets for charging phones, and a variety of different seating and furniture suitable for both individuals and groups. There are also two microwaves for you to heat your own food.

The Bristol SU Loft joins the already established SU Living Room as a student space managed by your SU on campus. The first Living Room was launched to great success in 2018 with overwhelmingly positive feedback from students who appreciated the space as a place to relax and connect with friends.

We host regular SU events in the Loft, pop up democracy and campaign stands and have commercial companies on campus here with (often yummy) freebies.

You can apply to book the Loft for student group events using the Bristol SU spaces booking form - give as much information as you can and a member of the team will be in touch.

What’s the difference between the Bristol SU Loft and the Bristol SU Living Room?

The Bristol SU Living Room was designed specifically to facilitate relaxation and community building, and reduce isolation. It’s a space where you don’t need to think about work, and we’ll try not to bother you with too many SU campaigns.

The Bristol SU Loft is more of a collaborative co-working space. You might choose to study here or work on group projects. You might want to hold committee meetings, or just want somewhere to eat your lunch. We’ll be a lot more visible in the Bristol SU Loft, so you can expect to run into Bristol SU representatives or be able to find out more about campaigns. We hear a lot that the SU feels too far from campus – so we’re bringing a slice of the SU to you.

Yes we are now accepting applications for student events in The Bristol SU Loft! Please fill in our Bristol SU spaces booking form, give as much information as you can and a member of the team will be in touch.
