Sudanese Movie Night: Screening of Goodbye Julia
Join Sudanese Society for a screening of Goodbye Julia, a multi-award winning Sudanese film set in the heart of Sudan, delving into the powerful stories of two women from the North and South. The movie follows Mona, a retired northern Sudanese singer, who is haunted by guilt after killing a South Sudanese man in an accident. Seeking redemption, she invites Julia, the widow of the deceased, into her home. As their bond deepens, the painful truths of their pasts come to light.
Goodbye Julia explores themes of guilt, forgiveness, and reconciliation, all against the backdrop of Sudan's history of division and unrest. Don’t miss this thought-provoking film that highlights the personal journeys of two women navigating their shared grief and the larger geo-political tensions of their respective nations.
Open to everyone; we'd love our non-Sudanese friends to join 🫶🏼
