Competitions:

We run frequent trips to competitions all over the UK, so you’ll get loads of opportunities to compete in your Bristol colours! From muddy cross country races to indoor track meets, fancy dress relays to national championships, there’s something for everyone! Our Highlights include...

BUCS (XC, Indoors, Outdoors):

These are the three biggest events of the year, the national University finals, where athletes from every uni in the UK compete to be the best student in the land in their chosen event! We make a weekend of these events and they’re always great fun. Strongly recommended.

The Sodbury Slog:

Without a doubt one of the maddest and muddiest races in England! A multi-terrain challenge in nearby Gloustershire – fancy dress compulsory! An extremely popular cross country event, many of our alumni come back for this one! Followed by traditional post-slog pub trip.

Bristol Relays:

Hosted by us in our very own wonderful city, these relays are always great fun! We invite lots of other unis, race against them and their teams (beat them ;)) and of course head out for our famous post-race curry and joint social affterwards!

Manchester Relays:

The first big race/social of the academic year and never one to miss!! Where we travel up to Manchetser for the weekend and race against plenty of other universities in 3km XC relays, the fun, spirit and action is always on top form and follows through to the big night out with all the other universities, including; curry, boat races, pubs, clubing and lots of crazy shenannigans!

Our Socials:

A great way to get involved with the club and make amazing friends! There's so much on offer and definitely something for you!

Sports Night:

The University’s main sports night, we have a social every Wednesday and end up in Gravity every week to dance the night away with all the other sports teams.

Score:

Three times a year sports night gets massive! Lots of fancy dress, usually a lot of glitter too, and competitiveness with all the other sports teams. Not to be missed.

The James Thompson Beer Mile:

Named after our very own alumni JT, who finished 7th in the World Championships and is the European record holder in this event. 4 pints, 4 laps. Will anyone be able to compete with our alumni to be crowned this year's champion?

Ogmore:

Held after exams in the summer term. We run along the Welsh cliffs and do relays up and down the famous ‘Big Dipper’, the most enormous sand dunes you’ve ever seen.

Sports Awards:

Not to forget the end of the year Sports dinner. We turn up suited and booted for the black-tie awards ceremony, before heading out for one final blowout.

Warm Weather Training:

During Easter break, we head to gorgeous sunny Spain, where get some warm weather training in, and spend some time soaking up the sun! It's a great way to meet everyone from all parts of the club, and it caters to all abilities! From running in the hills to spending your day on the beach! A trip not to be missed.
