Weekend Overview:
This Trad course is aimed at UBMC members with sport climbing experience, looking to break into the world of trad in a safe manner with expert mentorship. We have booked two certified instructors to take out a group of 12 people for the weekend at a very reasonable price (typically hiring a guide for the weekend would be upwards of £300).
Over the weekend, Edmund and another certified instructor will cover placing and assessing gear, lead belaying safely with two ropes, constructing an anchor and belaying a second, leading skills, safe trad progression/assessing risk, etc.
Daily schedule:
9am-4pm both days at the crag (TBC currently holding out hope for Symonds Yat)
The aim to leave Bristol from the SU building at 7.30 each day (location dependent).
Requirements to take part:
People with tickets should be confident sport leaders, ideally with some experience climbing outside and stripping sports routes, but proper belaying skills and a basic knowledge of roped climbing will suffice.
Required Kit:
If anyone does not have these items, they can borrow them from the gear store (subject to availability). Club trad gear will be taken along each day if needed.
Ticketing:
3 Drivers tickets - £58.35 (to account for the cost of fuel, which will be reimbursed)
9 confident leader tickets - £67.60
Tickets will be released Monday 30th October at 6pm
