Improvised Rescue Course

UBMC are organising an improvised/self rescue course in the Avon Gorge on Saturday 14th February. It will be run by Ed Hastings from Head on Out, who is an excellent teacher and who we have cooperated lots with in the past. 

The course will cover:

  • prussiking up and down a rope

  • tying off the belay plate

  • assisted and unassisted hoisting

  • abseiling past a knot (eg. if the rope is damaged and has been isolated)

  • abseil rescues

  • escaping the system

  • traverse rescues
