**ABOUT THE SESSION:** It doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a rugby ball, played club rugby or are on the England squad: all abilities are welcome and **not only to medics**! Our GIAG is open to all courses and capabilities, and we welcome everyone from beginners wanting to start their rugby journey, or experienced players looking for lower-stakes training. During our GIAG session, we’ll cover the basics of catching, passing and the rules of rugby, including some fun low-pressure games to help get acquainted with a rugby ball and most importantly, each other! **No tackling will be involved in this session**. UBHWRFC play very social rugby- there is zero expectation to be the next Ilona Maher. It’s a fun way to keep active, make new friends and have an amazing social life! **WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:** - Location: 3G pitch at Coombe Dingle - Time: 5 to 6 pm, Friday the 19th of September - Who to look for: A group of women in black t-shirts, and our coach Izzy in Bristol Bears kit! - How to get there: The 3 or 4 buses run from the city centre to Coombe regularly, or the U1 to Stoke Bishop accommodation village with a 15 minute walk to the sports complex. The First Bus app provides all the details you need! - \\ **WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:** - Trainers- studs are great if you have them, but not a requirement! - Sport-appropriate clothing: activewear, rugby kit, joggers etc - Water bottle - Any inhalers (please) - A positive attitude! \\ **ABOUT US:** UBHWRFC started as a group of friends playing together on the Downs, and progressed into a fantastic team from all years and courses competing in the National Associations of Medical Schools league. Our team has maintained a fun and friendly ethos throughout it’s history while maintaining high standards of rugby, winning the NAMS tournament in the 2022/23 season. UBHWRFC is run by players, for players, while catering to the unique schedule of medical students. Medics rugby is one of the best ways to connect with medics from different years, who can be great sources of advice, and become lifelong friends as you progress through the course! Training is a great way to blow off steam after a busy and stressful week, with our matches for higher-stakes competitive games. If you love fun rugby, a run around on a Saturday morning and competitive matches with your friends then we look forward to welcoming you!
