About Us
Welcome to the University of Bristol Knitting and Crochet Society! 🧶
We're a place for everyone from total novices to experienced knitters and crocheters to meet and chat in a friendly and relaxed setting. Share hints and tips, get inspired for your next project, take up a new skill, finish that one project you started months ago... whatever the reason, we'd love to see you! Beginners are more than welcome, and our committee is happy to teach you all the basics!
The Committee
Memberships
We offer a couple of membership options:
- Regular Membership: for those with all the supplies they need (yarn, crochet hooks, knitting needles) - £5
- Membership with a Welcome Pack: containing either knitting needles or a crochet hook (your choice!), a ball of yarn, and a variety of other tools to help you get started! - £7.50
- GIAG Membership with a Welcome Pack: limited-time membership available to those who attend one of our Give It A Go sessions (see the "Events" tab to book a free slot), containing everything the usual welcome pack does! - £6.50

Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.
Events
We meet every week for our Knit & Natter sessions, where all members are welcome - bring your projects and feel free to chat as much (or as little) as you like! For the 2026-27 academic year, these will take place every Wednesday from 7-9pm, in the Richmond Building, rooms 4.72 & 4.86. Take the stairs or the lift from the north side of the building, by the Balloon Bar.
In addition to these, we'll be running a variety of other socials every fortnight, including Pint & Purl and our annual KCS Winter Formal - there's something for everyone! Make sure to check out our Instagram for updates on these and to join our WhatsApp group!
