Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.
Malaysian Cultural Society (MCS) is a society formed by a group of Malaysian students to provide a platform for Malaysian students to bond. Our growing society also helps introduce and promote Malaysia's rich culture to everyone worldwide. In 2022/2023, we were named the Culture or Faith Society of the Year. Our society was also featured on the Bristol SU's 50 Most Influential List and received the Gold Award for the Bristol SU Accreditation Scheme for two consecutive years, 2023/2024 and 2024/2025. We have 5 main events which are Eid Celebration, Diwali, Chinese New Year, South East Asian Day and Malaysian Food Festival. All our events feature non-alcoholic drinks and halal food options. Should you have further dietary requirements, kindly inform us during the registration process.
Welcome to MCS! We represent Malaysians at the University of Bristol to create a home and community despite being away from Malaysia. We seek to celebrate the diversity of Malaysia through the celebration of our culture, food and traditions. We partner up with various societies in and outside of Bristol to support and give back to our members. Even if you're not Malaysian, we'd love to welcome and share with you our vibrant Malaysian community!
Our events include potlucks (lots of them), cultural celebrations such as Deepavali, Chinese New Year and Eid, along with our two flagship events: the Malaysian Food Festival (MASFest) and South East-Asian Day (SEADay). We also send teams to the Malaysian Sports Games (MGames) around the UK. All of our events are alcohol-free and inclusive.
Membership in the MCS entitles you to a range of benefits, including our exclusive merchandise and reduced-price or free access to all our events. This includes:
We offer two membership options: a one-year membership for £4 and a half-year membership (available starting TB2) for £3.
