Come and see an official screening of 'After Khakova', and have an in-person Q&A with the director, Kateryna Khinkulova herself! She is a BBC journalist, producer and director, and we have been lucky enough to be able to invite her to visit us for this screening!
In June 2023 a major dam, known as Kakhovka, in the south of Ukraine was destroyed, unleashing a massive flood. Dozens of people died, tens of thousands of homes and business were destroyed, untold environmental damage caused. The Russian military were accused of intentionally blowing up the vast concrete structure , which Moscow denied. After featuring in the news for a few days, the disaster disappeared from the public eye, while its consequences and ways to overcome them have stayed with the local people. This documentary tells the story of what happened after Kakhovka, a story of struggle, resilience and hope.
