Become a Nightline Listening Volunteer!

Details Hide[-]

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Bristol Nightline!

Nightline is a confidential, non-advisory, non-judgemental, non-directive, non-assumptive listening service. We look for good listeners who are empathetic, open-minded and would fit well into our supportive community.

Listening Volunteers are volunteers who take calls and answer messages on night shifts. Listening volunteers complete comprehensive training before going on shift.

Before we can invite you to volunteer training, we ask that you fill out this application form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScuuwk348yj_s8NrkWF96WGU2gSKG3y2lRWAjEIGwbZoGfdSw/viewform . The application is confidential and its information will stay private and only be reviewed by our training team. The form will help us find out a bit more about you and why you want to volunteer with us. Once your application has been reviewed, we will be in contact with you for the next steps.

Please be aware that successful applicants must be able to attend ALL of our training sessions if they would like to volunteer with us. The training sessions will be on the following dates:
- One online evening on Tuesday 6th February (6.30pm-8.30pm)
- Weekend whole-day sessions on the 10th AND 11th February 10am - 4pm (latest) IN-PERSON

In addition to this you will be provided with some compulsory pre-reading materials to help prepare you for training.

Please take time to fill out this form. The deadline for applications is the 2nd of February 2024. However, successful applicants will be offered a place at training on a first-come-first-serve basis, we have a limited number of spaces available.

We CANNOT accept applications from final year students in their last semester, due to the time it takes to train. Likewise, we regret that we are not able to take on volunteers who are studying at Bristol University for only one semester.
