Building Works in Senate House

Friday 26-01-2024 - 12:00

As you’re hopefully aware from the updates that were shared last term, some Bristol SU services will be relocating to Senate House later this year. In order for this to happen, there are some building works which will need to take place prior to the move.

The University have informed us that the 5th Floor of Senate House will be closed from Monday 12 February onwards to allow building work to take place. This is sooner than we anticipated, and we appreciate this won’t be welcome news for everyone. Any change can bring challenges, and we’re doing what we can to try and make sure this transition brings minimum disruption to the student experience.

We have been able to find alternative space for all affected student group bookings, and we are pleased to have worked with the university to identify additional spaces that should be able to be used by student groups on an ad-hoc basis this term. Further information about this will be sent to student groups shortly.

We are continuing conversations with the university about study space on campus, making it clear that this is a priority. We are lobbying to increase visibility and access of existing spaces and to make additional study space available as required.

All SU services that currently run from the Richmond Building will continue to do so until after Easter.
