King Arthur Castle Day Trip

Join Bristol SU for a day trip to the historic village of Tintagel! 🏰

What to expect?

Discover one of Britain’s most visually stunning coastal landmarks, Tintagel Castle, famous in many myths and legends. Said to be the birthplace of King Arthur, this incredible site offers breath-taking views, medieval ruins, and a footbridge connecting the mainland to the island.

After exploring the castle and its surroundings, you’ll have time to wander through the village of Tintagel. Visit King Arthur’s Great Halls, browse local shops, or enjoy a bite to eat in one of the cosy cafés - a perfect way to experience Cornish charm. Maybe even grab a famous Cornish Pasty from one of the famous bakehouses. 🥧

This is a great chance to meet new people and experience a different part of the UK, with everything from travel to attractions organised for you!

We'll invite you to a WhatsApp group chat the day before, and the SU Day Trips Team will be available all day to answer your questions and suggest places to go. They'll also let you know what they're up to and be joining in on the fun, leading smaller groups to popular sites during free time. So if you're coming on your own there will be plenty of opportunities to meet new people and make new connections throughout the day.

Itinerary

We’ll meet at 8:30 by the Richmond Building, where the staff will check you in, then travel by coach to Tintagel, arriving around 12:00. Once we get there you’ll take a short walk to Tintagel Castle and have 3-4 hours to explore the site.

We’ll meet back up at 17:15 PM to head back to Bristol, arriving around 20:30. On feedback from students we've added a stop in the city centre as well as Clifton!

Things to note:

  • Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing, as the weather can be unpredictable and there is uneven terrain throughout the area.
  • A WhatsApp group will be available for all participants to join once you purchase your ticket. It’s a great way to ask questions, meet others, and stay connected with your trip hosts on the day.
