Get hands-on in the beautiful Royal Fort Garden on our "Dead Hedge Building for Wildlife" event! Led by Tom Stevens, Royal Fort’s Lead Gardener, this 2-hour session will teach you how to construct a “dead hedge,” a natural barrier made from fallen branches, twigs, and leaf litter, designed to provide a valuable habitat for invertebrates, small mammals, and birds. You’ll work in small teams to build a framework using straight stakes and then fill it with harvested material to continue enhancing the network of dead hedges around the garden. By the end, you’ll not only learn how to build one but also understand how such structures help recycle garden waste and promote local biodiversity.

This event is a great way to get involved with nature and make a positive environmental impact, especially if you're interested in sustainable gardening practices.
