đź”” Introducing the University of Bristol Change Ringers Society! đź””
Ever heard the church bells ringing when you’re out and about? Want to give it a go? Bristol is a wonderful place to learn bellringing - so why not seize the opportunity? The Change Ringers Society is a small, friendly group of students who meet up every Tuesday evening at St Matthew’s, Kingsdown to ding some bells then have a relaxed trip to the pub. We also have plenty of social events: port and cheese night, pancake party, and summer BBQ, to name a few. If you want a fun, unique and affordable new hobby then this is the society for you!
What to expect
At our Give it a Go session, we'll meet you outside the main door and you'll be given a free beginner’s lesson on how to ring a tower bell . You’ll also have the chance to see the bells in the tower, which involves ladders and some dust, so please wear sensible clothes and shoes. Our 190-year-old church bells are unfortunately not accessible by wheelchair. For the Takeover Day session, the bells will be silent - do look out for our Tuesday GIAG sessions if you’d like hear them dong. All levels of experience are welcome and if you have any queries feel free to contact us at uobscr@gmail.com.
Can’t make it? Come and chat to us at the Fresher’s Fair, message us on instagram @uobscr or pop us an email.
