Ever wondered what it actually feels like to breathe underwater? Here's your chance to find out! No previous diving experience or equipment is needed. Come along to Give it a Go! with UBUC and take your first breaths beneath the surface in a fully supervised, beginner-friendly try dive session. You'll be paired with a qualified instructor throughout the session, so you'll have someone right by your side from start to finish. Meeting point: Before the session, we'll meet at our club Stores in the underground car park behind the Richmond Building. To find us, head down the curved car ramp just off Richmond Hill Avenue. We'll meet you there, help you assemble your diving equipment and talk you through everything before heading to the swimming pool. Please arrive between 4:45 pm and 5:00 pm so we have plenty of time to get everyone kitted up and briefed before entering the pool at 5:30 pm. The session will run in two waves on a first come, first served basis, so arriving early gives you the best chance of getting a spot. No previous diving experience is needed. We'll show you everything you need to know, from fitting your mask and taking your first breaths from a regulator to using simple hand signals to communicate underwater. All diving equipment is provided. What to bring: Swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. All diving equipment is provided. The session costs £15 per person, which helps cover the cost of the diving equipment and facilities. Important safety requirement: You must be able to swim at least 50 metres unaided to take part. This is a strict safety requirement. Look out for UBUC committee members in club shirts when you arrive.
