More student activities

University of Bristol departments are also running a range of events to keep you connected during the Summer. You can find all of these on their events calendar, but we've picked out a few of our favourites!

  • Library events: Attend workshops delivered by experts from Library Services that will help you develop library, research and study skills.

Academic Support

Support doesn't stop in summer – even if campus feels quieter.

You can still access academic and wellbeing support during the summer months. This includes University services as well as our Academic and Housing Advice. We're here to help you stay on track.

  • SU Academic Advice Team: Provides impartial, non-judgemental and confidential advice in navigating university processes relating to extensions, complaints, suspending studies and loads more.
  • SU Housing Advice Team: Available for confidential one to one sessions to support you in finding safe, affordable accommodation and to understand your rights as a tenant!
  • Study Skills: Build confidence and stay motivated in your studies with workshops and support on research skills, data analysis, academic writing, presentations, English as an additional language and dissertation writing.
  • Library Services: Get subject specific support from your subject librarian, and chat to library staff 24/7 via the 'Need help? Chat here' pop-up on the library homepage.
  • Careers: Thinking about your future career? Drop in to the Careers Service or chat with the team on Live Chat for advice, resources and help booking appointments tailored to your goals.
  • Wellbeing and Student Support: Access support for wellbeing, student life and practical challenges, including counselling, money advice, emergency help and guidance.

Things to Do in the City

There's more to Bristol than lectures and libraries. If you're looking to explore the city at your own pace, you're in the right place.

Bristol is full of free attractions, green spaces, and cultural spots. And if you're keen to catch bigger events or try new activities, we've pulled together some student‑friendly ideas you won't want to miss.

Disclaimer: The SU is not in partnership with these organisations and no money or services have been exchanged to be included on the list.

Student-Friendly Places

Bristol has loads to offer, and some places are especially popular with students.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to relax, explore, or spend time with others, our Local Business Directory is a great place to start.

We've also done some great roundups on our socials, and we'll add more recommendations over the summer!

If you're looking for somewhere for your student group, our Student Activity Space Finder has loads of great recommendations, with the option to add your own top finds!

Wellbeing and Support

Summer can feel a bit quieter when friends have gone home. You’re not on your own as support is always available.

Looking after yourself matters just as much as your studies.

Not Sure Where To Start? That’s Okay.

Take summer one step at a time. You could try a Bristol SU event or a new spot in the city. We’re here all summer!
