What is Welcome Week? 👋
Your university journey starts very soon! So, you might be wondering, what’s all this 'Welcome' that everyone keeps talking about?
Here at Bristol SU, we’re a union for all students – so our ‘Freshers Week’ is called Welcome Week.
It’s a massive, annual welcome to all University of Bristol students, both new and returning. No matter who you are or how long you've been with us, you’ll be able to kick off the new year with an exciting Welcome Week!
This September is all about creating memories, finding your people, and discovering everything the brilliant city of Bristol has to offer.

Welcome Week includes over 100 events - from club nights and arts & crafts to alcohol-free socials and city tours. It’s all about finding your community, making friends, and creating amazing memories.

Club Nights 💥
Welcome to Bristol’s iconic nightlife! From Pop Party and Indie Anthems on Thekla to House & DnB at Electric — these are the official club nights for University of Bristol students.
Buy your £22 Ticket Pass for access to your hall’s opening night and the biggest event of Welcome Week at Document on 18 September.
There are specific passes for Stoke Bishop Halls, City Centre and Clifton Halls, and Non-Halls. Use our Ticket Pass Finder to find yours!
Give It A Go! 🤹♂️
Try something new with our student groups! Our Give It A Go! programme offers taster sessions throughout Welcome Week and into TB1.
Join us on Friday 19 September for our Give It A Go Takeover Day — all SU spaces will be packed with activities.
Meet 300+ student groups at our Welcome Fair on 27 September. Chat with them, try out sessions in our Give It A Go Arena, and explore your interests.

Held on Clifton Downs from 9:30–18:00 (last entry at 17:00) on Saturday 27 September, the Welcome Fair is one of the biggest in the country — and it’s not to be missed!
