At BirdSoc, we welcome birders and bird enthusiasts of all skillsets to join our student-led birding group to join us and experience the joys of birding

Membership Details
As a 2026/27 BirdSoc member for only £5, you get access to all our walks, talks, socials and other fantastic events. Our committee and fellow society members are always happy to provide support and help for beginners with bird identification on walks. Additionally, members have access to loaning binoculars on walks and an assortment of ID guidebooks available at request during outings.
Members are also able to vote on the committee in our Annual General Member’s (AGM) meeting on assigning the next year's committee and have a say in discussing the future of BirdSoc.

Accessibility Statement
Birdsoc is made up of a friendly community of all kinds of people at all birdwatching experience levels, from beginner birders to long-time twitchers. Our goal is to make birdwatching accessible to all of our members, including those with long term health conditions and disabilities. Unfortunately, our outdoor venues are not always accessible to those who have mobility issues, so we also run plenty of indoor events in disability friendly venues, such as the SU building.
When running indoor events, we keep sensory conditions in mind and, where possible, we provide the option for members to use a quiet space if they are feeling overwhelmed. All of our event pages on our SU page will have a section for accessibility information, which may include how long a trail is, where the nearest toilets and accessible toilets are located in the venue, and whether it is wheelchair friendly.
