The University of Bristol Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club is a UKBJJA certified society aiming to allow any students who wish to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at any experience level.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (also called BJJ) is a challenging but rewarding submission grappling martial art focusing on the control and positional dominance of an opponent, leading to one of many joint locks and chokeholds. It is the sister sport to Judo, and the cousin of Wrestling. It is a key component of the modern mixed martial arts and a deep and engaging sport in its own right. The ability to practice a full-body activity at a level of physical intensity that is up to the athlete's discretion makes it an excellent way to stay in shape and gain a host of athletic qualities.

We are hoping to offer more opportunities for competitions this year, travelling locally to both university level and open tournemants. As well as hosting our very own again this year in the second term. We also hosted several seminars from seasoned coaches from some of the Bristol BJJ gyms and further afield. Additionally we are adding open mats to training this year. In the hopes of learning from each other, changing up intensity levels and offering a sociable environment to enjoy!
