Our Aims.

Wednesday 23-11-2022 - 13:28

A Bristol based film, music and theatre society aimed getting young creatives a head start in their respective careers.

COLLABORATE:

This is the core of BCA’s aims. We believe that our society can act as a unique interdisciplinary community for people of all creative disciplines within the university to come together and create art, more specifically towards the three central creative disciplines of Film, Music, and Theatre. Our society differs from other societies at university in this respect, as we do not place an emphasis on one specific creative discipline, instead we aim to cultivate an environment and promote a community whereby students from the full range of creative disciplines can benefit from each other's specialist expertise to create high-quality content that has been fine-tuned in all creative aspects. We hope for BCA’s community to grow into a centralised networking hub for all creatives who need other artists to collaborate with.

SHARE

Sharing your work is a vital aim for BCA, we aim for our society to be a safe communal space whereby artists can feel free to share their work and receive feedback from fellow society members or our executive committee. We intend to have dedicated feedback sessions throughout the year purely dedicated to this. Beyond that BCA, intends to share all work created by our members through our growing social media channels and events planned for the year.

GET IT SEEN

It is of the utmost importance to us at BCA that the work that you create with us can allow you to get a footing in your respective industries. We want to make sure that when you move on to the next step in your career, you are completely ready to do so. We aim to do this by using the society’s funds to financially and logistically support 2-4 creative projects per year through pitching sessions whereby BCA members will be able to pitch their projects to the rest of the society, a subsequent democratic vote will then take place on which projects will be financially funded. All BCA member projects (even those that don’t receive funding) will then be shown at our annual BCA exhibition where members will be able to showcase their work to friends, family, and invited industry professionals. Beyond the exhibition, BCA will be hosting a range of industry talks, screenings, and workshops throughout the year to further improve society members' employability prospects after they graduate.
