About Us
The Bristol Political Economy Society aims to promote the collaborative learning of economics among all students regardless of their academic background; work alongside the School of Economics to create a curriculum that is evidence-based, people-focused, interdisciplinary, and pluralist; and raise awareness of postgraduate and non-finance career opportunities in economics.

Membership
How much is membership?
Our membership fee is £8 for one year. That's less than three lattes from Source Cafe, or two Sainsbury's meal deals!
Why do I get from being a member?
Members can vote at our General Meetings, run for committee in our elections, and access tickets for limited events. You do not need to be a member to attend our non-ticketed events, like our discussion groups and most guest speaker events.
What does it actually pay for?
Your membership fees allow us to host in-person talks with leading academics from across the UK by offering them travel expenses. They also help us place deposits for socials, decorate our welcome fair stall, and pay for our own custom email address (coming soon!).
What if I cannot afford the membership fee?
All students, including international students, are eligible for the Bristol SU's Activity Hardship Fund. This can cover the cost of society membership fees, like ours! If financial hardship would prevent you from becoming a member of our society, we strongly recommend that you apply for the Activity Hardship Fund.
From the SU: "Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost."
