About Us

Welcome to new and returning dancers! Here you can find all the BULABDS information you're looking for!

BULABDS is one of the largest societies at Bristol University, with dance classes taught by professional coaches designed to suit all abilities — whether you want to compete or not. At BULABDS, everyone is welcome, and our main goal is simply to have fun and enjoy dancing together!

The dancing that we offer is separated into two categories: Latin and Ballroom:

Class timetable

We run a social class for those wanting to dance socially in a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere; as well as team classes run by professional coach Snezhana Draper (see her impressive credentials here) for those deciding to be part of our competition team, or just want to have a greater focus on technique and presentation.

If you'd like to try out BULABDS in second term, we recommend joining our social class as our team classes have been progressing since September. If you would like to join a team class, please contact one of our team captains to discuss this first.

The team classes are split into the following levels:

Beginners (No prior ballroom and latin experience)
Novice
Intermediate and Advanced

Social class

Fridays in Carpenter room at 8pm

Ballroom classes

Thursdays in the Richmond building

Beginner: 17:15 - 18:45 in Carpenter

Thursdays at Cotham School:

Novice: 19:00 - 20:30

Intermediate/Advanced: 20:30 - 22:00

Latin Classes

Sundays in the Richmond building

Intermediate/advanced: 14:30 - 16:00 in AR5

Sundays at the indoor sports centre:

Beginner: 16:30 - 18:00 in studio 3

Novice: 18:00 - 19:30 in studio 3

Membership Details

£15 - Social Membership

Society membership includes access to all social classes for no additional cost as well as all the other perks of being a part of BULABDS

£130 - Society Membership + Full year of Team Classes

This membership gives you access to all social classes and team classes for the whole year (levelled at either Beginner, Novice or Intermediate/Advanced). You do not need to purchase society membership separately. You get a £20 discount for buying the full year team class instead of purchasing each teaching block seperately!

£75 - Society Membership + Teaching Block 2 Team Classes

This membership gives you access to all social classes and team classes in teaching block 1 (levelled at either Beginner, Novice or Intermediate/Advanced). You do not need to purchase society membership separately.

If you have difficulties in paying the membership, you may be eligible to apply for the SU hardship fund.

**Additional costs for competitions, transport and optional private lessons are not included in these prices.
