BULABDS notoriously is one of the largest societies at the University of Bristol, with dance classes taught by dance coaches that are designed to be easy-going, give you plenty of time and many opportunities to socialise, have fun, and at the same time learn to dance!

The dancing that we offer is separated into two categories: Latin and Ballroom.

Latin dance comprises of the rather chic, sexy and cheeky dances such as the

  • Cha cha cha
  • Jive
  • Samba
  • Rumba
  • Paso Doble

Ballroom dancing is made up of dances usually associated with traditional ballroom dancing:

  • Waltz
  • Quickstep
  • Tango
  • Viennese Waltz
  • Foxtrot

It is a welcome alternative to the showmanship of Latin, erring instead on the side of grace and elegance.

Classes

We run a social class for those wanting to dance socially in a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere; as well as team classes for those deciding to be part of our competition team, or just want to have a greater focus on technique and presentation.

The classes are split into the following levels:

  • Beginners (No prior ballroom and latin experience)
  • Novice
  • Intermediate and Advanced
