What we do

CSS exists to ensure that all computer scientists have a great time at Bristol University. Here's just a taster of what we do:

  • Hackathons - we organise a number of hackathons throughout the year. Watch this space!
  • Outreach - we want to get more young people interested in CS. As a student, you will have many opportunities throughout the year to get involved with Digimakers, Student Robotics, Code Club and more.
  • Socials - we organise everything from Airhop and laser tag trips to nights out.
  • Talks - we're always on the lookout for interesting topics and speakers that we think CS students will be interested in.
  • Panels - we organise panel discussions about the welfare, equality, coursework and other departmental issues.
  • Advocacy - if you're struggling with something in the department, come and talk to us. We will do what we can to get it resolved.
  • Summer BBQ - we organise a massive summer BBQ free for all CS students.
  • Jobs - we keep in touch with industry, organise careers events and advertise interesting jobs to CSS members.
