About Us

UoB Film Society is committed to being an inclusive society for all types of film-lovers, whether you're a fan of arthouse cinema, blockbuster hits, cult movies or you're looking to get invested into cinema altogether! We offer film screenings, pub socials and regular events to help create a diverse space for people passionate about cinema, ran by a committee of people just as excited to share their love of movies with you all!

On Tuesday evenings we all come together to watch our weekly screenings, voted on by our members, with unique themes and films set by the committee - feel free to come alone, with friends, or with snacks (but no talking or phones when the lights go down!). After the screening, we go to a nearby pub afterwards to chat about the film (and everything else film related) so stick around and hang out with us, we'd love to hear what you thought!

On Wednesday afternoons we have our weekly discussion group, an open space available to everyone in the Stephenson Room. Walk right in, take a seat at the table and debate all things film, from minute differences to major sweeping statements, with fellow avid cinema watchers. No matter your take, hot, lukewarm or cold, feel free to express your opinion in this inclusive (and maybe sometimes energetic) environment!

On Friday evenings, you can expect a variety of socials and events. Pub socials, both casual and themed (come in your best costumes!), cinema trips, Christmas dinners, screenings in special locations, quizzes to test your cinema knowledge, you name it!

So come along to the UoB Film Society, THE HOME OF CINEMA, and say hello! We love growing our film community and we'd love to meet you!
