Introducing LifeSci Lens

Welcome to LifeSci Lens, UoB's first free student-run digital life sciences magazine!

We are a team of student volunteers collaborating to write, edit, proofread and design each article to produce a high-quality, scientifically accurate publication. Whatever your strengths, you can get involved!

We publish articles about any topic related to the life sciences, such as fascinating discoveries (old and new), opinion pieces on scientific controversies, or even interviews with faculty members about their research. We believe that science should be free and accessible to all, and hope that the creativity of our writers, coupled with the diligence and integrity of our editorial team, will inspire our readers to explore and engage with the life sciences.

Though our primary focus as an academic society is working together to publish our magazine, we plan to host workshops with interactive activities related to scientific publishing, designing and writing, as well as some relaxed socials throughout the year. Be sure to join our free membership for updates!

All our issues are freely available online!

How to get involved

Editorial team – There are now 4 roles within this team (editors, proofreaders, designers and writers), and members are not limited to a single one. We welcome anyone interested in joining our team to fill out our Editorial Team application form.

Write for us on a freelance basis – Even if you don't have time to commit to our team of writers, we welcome any student (including members of our editorial team) to suggest articles they would like to write for us at any time. To submit a proposal, fill out this short form. For more information (and inspiration) check out our helpful Write for us page.

Membership

Membership of our society is free and open to anybody interested in our project, not limited to members of our Editorial Team or life sciences students. Join us to receive regular updates and information!
