About Us

Welcome to the University of Bristol Table Tennis Club!

We are a diverse, friendly group of people of all abilities who enjoy playing table tennis competitively and socially. We offer coaching and support for players who wish to improve and have regular sessions in the Carpenter Room and Indoor Sports Centre. Competitively, we have one Women's team and two Men's teams in the BUCS league (British Universities & Colleges Sport).

Follow our Instagram and join our WhatsApp Community to receive updates about upcoming events!

Freshers' Events

We are Stall 269 at this year's Welcome Fair on Saturday 27th September on the Downs. We are all looking forward to meeting you all!

We are in the Carpenter Room in the Richmond Building on 19th September from 10:00–11:45 AM for this year’s Give it a Go Takeover Day!

All abilities are welcome!

Bats and balls are provided — just turn up and have fun! However, if you have your own bat, it would be greatly appreciated if you do bring it!

We have 4 further Give it a Go! sessions for students to attend for free before choosing whether or not to buy a membership:

  • 24th September 13:00–15:00
  • 24th September 15:00–17:00
  • 28th September 20:00–22:00
  • 5th October 20:00–22:00

To ensure it is not too crowded, these sessions will be ticketed – reserve your space in Events!

We will also be deciding our BUCS teams at our Team Trials which will be held on Wednesday 1st October 13:00–16:45. While this is open for all students to attend, we expect all players to have their own bats and to have played competitively before.

Membership Details

We have 2 memberships available to students: Social and Team.

Our Social Membership (£40) allows you to have access to all our social sessions for free for the year. This membership also gives access to any of our PingPod takeovers - the best table tennis venue in the country and home to TableTennisDaily - for a discounted price. This is recommended for players not looking to play competitively, for players with committments on Wednesday afternoons, or for players who didn't make the team.

Our Team Membership (£75) allows you to have access to all our team training sessions for free for the year and free transport to away games, alongside everything in our Social Membership. This membership is exclusive to team members picked at team trials. Please do NOT buy this unless told to by a committee member! An SEH pass (£25) is also required to be purchased alongside this membership to get access to the training facilities. We expect team members to regularly attend training sessions and to keep Wednesday's free for BUCS games.

Bristol SU recognises that the costs of participating in student groups can be prohibitively expensive for some students. The Activity Hardship Fund was created to support those students who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in their chosen activity due to the cost.

Session Information

Social Sessions

Social sessions are our weekly sessions available to our social members.

They take place every Sunday 20:00-22:00 in the Carpenter Room in the Richmond Building.

There is no set structure to these sessions — just turn up and play! If you would like coaching or tips, a committee member will be more than happy to help!

Bats and balls are provided, but if you have your own bat please bring it!

Additional sessions or changes to existing sessions are announced in our Social Members' WhatsApp Group Chat!

Team Sessions

Team sessions are our training sessions for our team members.

They take place in Studio 3 in the Indoor Sports Centre at the following times:
