What is Bridge?
Bridge is a 4-player trick-taking card game that requires strategic thinking, deduction and teamwork. It is played in two phases; a bidding phase, and a card-playing phase, using a standard pack of 52 cards. If you have ever played Whist, Hearts, Chess or Poker then you will love bridge!
What does UoB Bridge Club offer?
- Teaching sessions - We are very lucky to have England Junior/Open Women internationals for teaching.
- Social sessions - For everyone who wants to play bridge and improve.
- Competitive sessions - Including teams entered in the Portland Bowl, the inter-university knockout competition, in addition to regular online and in-person training.
Membership
Membership costs £0 for the 2026/2027 academic year. No matter whether you've never heard of the game before, know a little bit about trick-taking games, or you're a seasoned expert, everyone is welcome to their first 3 sessions for free, you'll get to learn the basics and meet new people!

- Come and play bridge! No matter what level you are, we'll teach and play in groups of all experience levels. No membership required for your first 3 events.
