How to join Student Council May 2023

Tuesday 02-05-2023 - 08:48

As part of our efforts to make our democratic events more accessible, and easier to take part in we're trying something new this year... digital voting!

This means that if you're a current-year student rep you'll be able to cast your vote on motions online. However, those wishing to speak for, or against a motion and any amendments must join the event in person.

Make sure to check out our Student Council Guide, which is full of even more information about the meeting and how it works!

How to join online

If you'd just like to join to vote, and not to speak for or against a motion you can do so online. Here's how:

  • We'll be running the audio and video feed for the meeting through Teams. If you're eligible to join you should recieve an email link, but we've added a link in this article too: Student Council May 2023 Online Meeting Link.
  • Head over to Slido on your computer or phone by going to slido.com and using the meeting code #1786 817.
  • Enter your University of Bristol email address (the one that looks like ab12345) and then check your email for a secure pin.
  • Input the pin into Slido and you're in! You can use the Q&A function to ask questions during the meeting, or vote to support, oppose and abstain on motions once voting opens for each one.
  • Has Slido told you you're not able to join the event? Fill in this form to let our tech team know.

How to join in person

If you'd like to speak for or against a motion, or just like the vibe of in-person democracy (we know we do!) come along to The Anson Rooms in the Richmond building. You'll still vote using Slido, but you don't need to join the Teams call.

  • Please note, you'll need to bring a device (a phone, laptop or tablet) with an internet connection, and access to your University email inbox.
Go and chat with our tech team at the helpdesk and they'll get you in.

Thanks for your patience as we test a new system that should make Student Council and our Annual Members Meetings more accessible, sustainable and easier to get involved with! For more information on Student Council, view our Student Council Guide May 2023.
